Hi,

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is it something to do with my setup, router etc?

The articles download but they burst 80-120KB/s for a second or too then idle and keep doing the same.

Look at the graph on the bottom left.

Any ideas?

Hmm, now its just sat there saying 'Idle (Transfers Scanned)' *Sigh*.

I am sure I used to use this program a few years ago and it was fine.

Edit: and now its in its burst mode again. lol.

I don't want to pay for something, if the program doesn't even work on my system properly. I want to fix this issue first. Smiley

I also use astraweb (unlimited for $11 special Cheesy)

But if you just want to test the program out try hitnews.eu (3 day free trial)

What NTTP server is that you are using? I know it says Karoo but I thought the Karoo NTTP were limited to 25kB/s per connection?

Another thing it could be is if you are on a max option package. They are traffic shaped and could give a blast of data then nothing and so on.

Taken from their q&a pages
Question: How fast is the Karoo news service?

Answer: Each connection to the Karoo news service is restricted to 128kbit/sec; i.e. 16kbytes/sec.
Hope this helps.

I'm using grabit and Astraweb newsgroup, as you can see i get a very respectable 1700KB/s download speed using 10 ports equating to 6gb per hour.

Below is one using karoo and the second using Astraweb..

karoo's new server used to be capped to 26k/sec for each port with a max of 2x ports connected.   they have further reduced this so you get 35k/sec to 42k/sec maximum over the combined 2 ports.

someone either screwed up, was testing something or sneakily enabled upto 170k/sec for about 3 days the other week.  However, someone noticed and it was switched back down again.

i'd say enjoy the bursts!  the programs working fine, Karoo isnt! Cheesy

It isn't operated by Karoo.

Its a giganews feed.
