Hi Chaps

East Riding Council are investing in wireless technologies to connect all their schools to their IP access provision using Motorola Canopy equipment and the light touch 5.7-5.8Ghz spectrum.

Reasoning - Higher bandwidth and no need to pay KC for their ridicuously priced Ethernet leased line services in the Hull area.

Motorola's Canopy broadband wireless platform gives Internet service providers the power to deliver fast, affordable Internet access to homes and small businesses.

Motorola's Canopy broadband wireless platform, which operates in 5.2GHz and 5.7GHz frequencies*, gives you the power to deliver fast, affordable Internet access. The system consists of three core components: The Subscriber Module (for the user), the Access Point (for serving the Subscriber Modules) and the Backhaul (for serving greater distances). Canopy is scalable to meet your users needs, with each Access Point capable of serving up to 200 Subscriber Modules.

The Motorola Canopy system transfers data at Broadband speeds. An Access Point Cluster (6 Access Points) is capable of serving up to 1200 Subscriber modules, within a 360 degree span and with distances up to 15 Kilometers.

For greater distances, 20Mb/s Backhaul units can be linked together to reach distances of up to 50 Kilometers and they can even be daisy chained to create numerous links of up to 50 Kilometers each!
