Just out of interest, has anyone contacted any of the LLU operators out there? If we could get them to look at the layout and potential of some of the bigger KC exchanges it could tempt them into looking at a possible investment. Once another companies kit is installed it opens up all kinds of other wholesale and renting capacity opportunities.

Just a few of the companies installing their own equipment in exchanges are: Tiscali, AOL, Carphone Warehouse, Zen, Entanet, BE(*)there - O2, Sky, Easynet, Virgin Media and there are a few more, it has been mentioned that there is plenty of BT network capacity in the area which any company could get hold of if they wanted to supply, so perhaps it is worth while.

How many Sky customers are there in Hull for example? missing out on Sky's internet service? or O2 customers missing out on their broadband offer? Many thousands I think...

Question for Hobbis perhaps here, KC have rolled out into EY using those "active cabinets" which I guess take the copper pair from the BT exchange or BT PCP cabinet... hence giving KC access to the line for telephony and broadband.

OK, so as there is a BT exchange in town, next to KC HQ (Civic exchange) couldn't BT take over the pairs of customers on the Civic exchange - like KC do in EYE areas, quite easily, to provide a service on that line? This would only be available to people on Civic, but it's a start?

Aren't there any BT PCP cabs in town? What about those which have PO on them?  Tongue

Ideas?

Cheers,

Hi adriandaz,

I have contacted $ky and had some length discussions with them about LLU within Hull, their take on the matter was they have a business model which integrates with BT's network and weren’t interested in undertaking any extra work to support the KCOM users.

Having said that, maybe those other operators might be willing to take up the challenge, it can't hurt to ask.
