Not yet, got the kit installed but had problems with the connection, I think Ricky was reorganising the way we all connect when he came to do mine and I was on the old config or something like that anyway he's popping back tonight to reconfigure. I'll upload the details when I get back from the YumYum festival in Hull city Centre tonight for those of you who are interested its a Fringe celebration of food, drink and a bit of comedy in Hull this weekend http://www.yumfestival.co.uk/

I had an e-mail from them saying that they only did a fixed IP on a business service, without any indication of what that might be, or how much it might cost. Responding to that gave a message that their server was rejecting e-mail ...

I think they have sorted the mail problem now, I spoke to them yesterday about that.

Stormy - will put up Ping, etc. tests up shortly - not had chance so far.

Still working fine so far on 10 down and 2 up.  I've also gone for the VOIP service with AirNet and Ricky is dropping the adaptor off tonight.  Will not how this works to.

KC will no doubt worry if AirNet and NetGenUs get full rolled out on the broadband and VOIP!

Heres my speed and ping test at 16:00h

Ping tests:

google.co.uk (38ms worst)
channel4.com (32ms worst)
news.bbc.co.uk (39ms worst)
google.com (37ms worst)

love the speed, but pings are quite high, I hope it does not affect my ps3 gaming.

Yeh pings are much higher than Richards on NextGenUs. Any ideas why?

It at least identifies the ISP correctly, I wonder how much ping widely is affected by the distance to the transmitter too.

Knowing RIPE it can take weeks, and longer, to get IPs reassigned.

Just cancelled, my Karoo and Kcom phone line, the woman I spoke to asked why I was cancelling, I said I had got Broadband and phone from another supplier. She answered "what in Hull! Oh you mean mobile BB, I said no, Its called WiMax, I have an 01482 number and 19mb broadband unlimited.

She was very surprised. lol.

 Grin

And stuff like that will travel like wild fire in Karoo's offices, Although no doubt they are aware of everything already given that they read these forums religiously now hehe..

Must have felt really nice @Hullnet eh!

My kc bill is £10.99 a month + £16.99 internet.. Ridiculous considering i dont use the phone line yet need phone rental to receive my internet..

You will probably find the office staff don't know much about it yet, but I am sure they will get to know more, that's if the wireless suppliers can even cope, I mean they are not replying to emails from all the evidence I can see at the moment so I have no idea how many customers they are actually connecting.

Edit: Sent this post i just made to this topic as well.

I have nothing against Airnet, Lets be realists here and realise that Airnet 'Are' still offering a better service for people 'on paper' then Karoo.. And also a few positive results being shown (Hullent, PSI ).

But so far in my honest opinion, I think NextGenUS have what it takes to take the people of Hull onboard and progress through the dark ages, and into the new dawn of super fast broadband to which will be comparible to many of the EU countries..

Hopefully the wait wont be too long for those who have registered for equipment to be fitted.. But as was made clear by richardmyers in a previous post, Its in NextGenUS's best interests right now to be as selective as possible to initialise the first few users of their service.. They 'DO NOT' want to be wasting time on people who may be happy to register their interest, but when coming to signing on the dotted line, then turning round and saying 'actually no thanks'..

@Stormy, this is not aimed at you or anyone else, its just my views on things and why the installs of the new service are slow progress.

Also, you have to understand that resources are very think with NextGenUS right now due to them being 'up and coming'.. Once this thing takes hold and popularity increases, And adverstising becomes more strategic, Then more staff will be brought in to supply the demand..

Regards
