Hello,

I once got cut off after I paid my bill and had to pay a reconnection charge.

Try getting an alternative ISP like Fibrestream on there tho as it is censored out, I have tried to slip the link in there 3 times this morning  Smiley

Pity Look North did not give us more time to do something about it.

Just sent this to Look North

In reply to your request for comments on the karoo forums

http://karooforums.net/index.php/topic,675.msg6045.html#new

I have tried numerouse times today to publish an alternative to Karoo on the Hull Daily Mail article regarding filesharing cut off but have been censored twice.
http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/news/Karoo-bans-Internet-users-illegal-downloads-films-music/article-1192922-detail/article.html

I hope your story is a bit more honest and mentions an alternative supplier in Hull

Its well known that a certain big torrent tracker inserts fake ip address's, which I would expect is how the majority download illegal things.

Its DMCA warnings Karoo will be receiving isn't it?

They seem to be operating in the interest of who ever sent the warning...

I don't like the way receiving such warning it seems to assume your guilty.

I read a while ago I read about an elderly couple where where accused of illegally sharing some game just because there IP was in a torrent list.

Found it, http://www.zeropaid.com/news/9826/uk_p2p_game_crackdown_catches_nongaming_elderly_couple/

Quite simply the way it works on ip address's can't be used its to easy falsely accuse people.

Karoo also state that they do not charge whilst you are disconnected- well they are liars.
I was disconnected for downloading a movie that I owned so why the hell would I be downloading it again especially seeing as it was eazy to backup.
I was off for over a week but they still charged me for it despite complaints.

Just spoke to Fibrestream.

They say file sharing can be detrimental to the networks, but users would not be subjected to draconian profit making.

Notification and service throttling in repeat offenders but removal of service to force a reconnection charge would never be an option Fibrestream Ltd would take.

Quicker thease guy get the numbers up the better !!!!

My interent connection mystically disappeared recently without warning..On contacting Karoo we were told that this was due to illegal downloading. They would send a letter and it had to signed to be say that the offending downloaded file had been removed..The letter appeared and quite clearly stated that during the period of disconnection we WOULD be charged as normal
I contacted Karoo 3 times that evening as I was extremely concerned about this..I pointed out that we hadn't downloaded the offending file but they said that the equipment used to detect it was NEVER wrong..I stated that it was possible that someone had hacked into my wireless system and done it and there answer was a quite clear " Thats your probelm "..I was told that connection would not be restored until the letter had been signed..it was quite clear that the only way we would get the connection back was to sign the letter and admit to something we hadn't done..yes we signed it and sent it back..I am very unhappy about being " held over a barrel " and being falsely accused of illegal activities
They appear to able to "falsely prove " that we did it and we can't prove that we didn't..What a state this country is in
A somewhat annoyed

That's when you should take KC to court. Make them prove it was you that downloaded the offending content. if they can't prove it was you, they would be forced to either reconnect you without charge or let you out of the contract.

Seriously i will do this if they did that to me, since i know i could win such a case. Their is no proof other than the IP address some random anti p2p group gave them and anyone with networking knowledge will know that IPs can be spoofed and also the ISP's DHCP/Login logs can be inaccurate. Just because your IP is in a log does not mean you are guilty!

Public trackers intentionally list innocent IPs in any case. It doesn't affect the bittorrent performance but the intention is to poison the use of their lists as evidence.
