Hi guys

Thought this might be a good place to ask as you all seem to know about stuff like this  Grin

I have registered a domain name (.co.uk) and am in the process of setting up a little estore (not selling loads) but will require shopping cart, some type of payment eg paypal/world pay etc. Now I have done some reading up on getting some hosting and a few places do a service where you get a program with the hosting to help set up a estore (templates/shopping cart etc etc). As I am not very good at web design its the ease of setting up the estore that is paramount.

Wondered if anyone knew of any good companys I can use that are reliable yet cheap  Shocked

Thanks in advance

Hi
I have nearly finished setting up my Own E store up at www.ecadet.co.uk  and as you say it is not that easy.  However I have found that there is some very good free shopping cart software out there; there are also some good forums. A lot depends on the type of kit you are wishing to sell and how much functionality you want your shop to have.

Please let me know if I can help!

Regards,

Mike

I see u used cubecart? Are the hosting options where they provide free programs like this not very good or are they not as good?

Also would be great if you could forward me the links to the helpful forums as well?

Thanks

My site is hosted on my web space at www.1and1.co.uk and you just install the cubecart shop and setup a MYSQL data base for the shop so any good hosting package would be ok .
There is a good support forum on cubecarts home page under support.
All so www.cubecart.org is very good for mods, skins and stuff

To be honest karooforums.net is hosted on a virtual private Linux server rather than on shared hosting so I'm not really sure who's good and who aint.

I had heard that one and one can get a bit grabby if you try and leave them though before your contract ends though?

If latency isn't essential to you, I'd go with a US hosted website. A lot cheaper.

This is very true I have had hosting accounts in the us and had some problems when closing accounts releasing domain names etc  but by all accounts they are very good. So far i have had a very good experience with 1and1 but have heard of some users having problems

If you still want hosting I can provide you some space and bandwidth.  As for ecommerce storefronts you want to look at oscommerce as its open source i.e. FREE with lots of top developers constantly updating it.
