Ok, with all this talk of ISP's not providing advertised speeds etc, not really thinking of your actual connection speed but the speeds you can download at etc just wondering what you think is an acceptable throughput based on what you pay for, obviously people on option 4 will have a higher expectation than those on option 1.  Reason I've done this is I was thinking about when i was on BB1000, obviously i never got any more or any less and was paying £25 per month, I'm now on option 2 and for a fiver less I'm generally getting higher speeds than that, although sometimes it can be less, I look at it from a swings and roundabouts point of view.

K-shite should provide the agreed speeds all the time, not traffic shape to reduce their overheads. Get rid of the ridicules concept all price plans are 8mb, it simply disappoints the end users. Guarantee the following speeds, until you reach the download cap, after that point traffic shape down to 512kbs. People will know what performance to expect, if they want a higher download limit they can pay the extra.

£14.99      2mb   30 gb/month
£19.99      4mb   40 gb/month
£24.99      6mb   50 gb/month
£29.99      8mb   Unlimited

If K-shites current infrastructure cannot support the above scheme then they should upgrade to accommodate these levels of bandwidth instead of investing in new markets.

I don't think those prices are viable really, if you think and unlimited/unrestricted 3mbps account is £39.99 there is no way they could do unlimited unrestricted 8meg for 29.99. I definitely think karoo should go with some form of pay for what you use system where there is a base price and then you are charged accordingly, then people who demand fast speeds can get them, and if you download loads then you have to pay for it, seems the fairest way. Will be interesting how they go about this talked about ADSL2 that they are currently trialling, would seem pointless having these much faster speeds just to get shaped to normal speeds like everything else.

To be fair I think that KCs bandwidth throttling system is knackered.

Even relatively light users on option 4 are seeing connections shaped down to 1 or 2mb at peak times. I don't think that KC should be doing that to customers unless they've been naughty and broken the Karoo TOS.

I think we should have an option for actual bandwidth limits. Rather than this scewed 'unlimited' deal we have.

"To be fair I think that KCs bandwidth throttling system is knackered. "

Can you please remove "bandwidth throttling system is" from the above statement so it just reads:

To be fair I think that KC's knackered.  Its more accurate!

Hi All

the 3 meg line was one of the best you could get what it said you got 24/7 no fail allways got over 3 meg down

changed to 8 meg pile of krap

karoo did tell me they are losing money on the 3 meg line due to bandwidth charges

8 meg is shaped at peak times to compensate bandwidth

what really pisses me off is 50 meg is on test down south and 100 meg is reachable down there as well

how the hell is karoo ever going to achive these speeds without rewiring Hull

my rant for the day sorry if its gone off topic

but i do feel better for it now

I agree with that. they should do what most of the high rated ISP on Think Broadband have done. Have set bandwidth limits, if you go over your limit you automatically get upgraded to the next limit. then get dropped down again a month later with out some stupid £30 charge!
