Hi, open question to anyone, but hopefully someone from KC will answer Smiley

Is KC (Cumberland Comms on behalf of KC) in a process of winching out old cable links between exchanges, or cable which is no longer used, faulty etc.. from the ducting?

Seen these guys over the last few months winching out cable and chopping it up into manageable chunks to cart away,

Is it a process of freeing up duct space and cashing in all the old, damaged, unused copper links which have been replaced by fiber over the years?

So far I have seen:

Hessle to Civic? - hessle square, hessle high road, hessle road, and down clive sullivan...
North to Newland? - down from the barracks, down Beverley road etc..
Cottingham, not sure of the path but possibly to Newland.
Most recently from West, working their way down Anlaby road, guessing towards Civic?

Just wondered really, copper is worth a lot these days so makes sense removing it.

BT were actually doing the same thing a few months ago, pulling out some of their old links into Hull and beyond, Holderness road and Beverley road. They were using Skanska contractors.

Anyone shed any light?

Hope it wasn't cowboys stealing all the copper Cheesy
