Has anyone had more success with the above?

Thomson's Config Wizard offers VPI/VCI via a dropdown list, and 1/50 (for Karoo) is missing. Nearest is 1.33 or 1.100. I can find no simple way of changing VPI/VCI in its Telnet Command-Line Interface.

The device's Info screen only lists Firmware version (6.2.29.2), whilst their website only lists Firmware date (6/26/2009). No Readme.txt in downloaded ZIP. Although their website's User Manual section suggests Release 6.2.x is their latest release.

I could find nowhere among its menus to upgrade Firmware, the nearest is Backup/Restore Configuration. I'm reluctant to run IIS to become a HTTP host for its Telnet Command-Line Interface.

Starting with its arrival Refurbished from DigiDave.co.uk with ink squirted all over it, this has not been a happy experience.

I am using a 716v5. You will need to set it up using any VPI/VCI combination and then save the config file to your computer, manually edit the VPI/VCI details under the phone.ini heading and then upload it.

Try backing up the configuration, editing it in notepad or something with correct vpi/vci and restoring.

Hi. Many thanks for replies. However, obtaining Thomson Firmware via:

http://www.technicolor.com//globalenglish/broadband-uk/Drivers-Firmwares/Pages/default.aspx
or:
http://www.technicolor.com//GlobalEnglish/customer-service/dsl-modems-download/Pages/default.aspx

Their latest download for Release 6.2.x "6-2-H-5" downgraded from version 6.2.29.2 to 6.2.17.5. However, now reset to UK gen Firmware my missing VPI/VCI of "1.50" for Karoo appeared. Yay! It's not mine so an easy Config Wizard is best.

No idea why its VoIP "Phone 1" LED is constantly ON per "The phone is off hook", shouldn't it be OFF per "no phone connected" ?

Did I mention, to add to my happiness, that I also managed to brick the router during things? Grateful for "BootP Reset" and TFTPD32 for resurrecting it.

I use the BE firmware for my 716v5: http://www.divshare.com/download/4923526-b65

It seems to attain better speeds from the line and also be more reliable with a lower SNR.

You would have to upload a config which had been saved from a PPPoA setup though.
