Well I am currently trying to download the latest Ubuntu beta release.. and it's flat-lining at about 11-12Kbytes/sec. I'm not using any other bandwidth. I find it absolutely extraordinary that Karoo can limit people on a broadband package to 120Kbps (which is only double dialup speed really). I have 16hrs left to go to download my 675Mb CD image for Ubuntu.. oh joy!!

Yes, Stormy, Max 1. I went to bed and the d/l finished at 00.45 - so obviously the speed picked up a lot later on. This evening it's back down to almost dialup speeds again Oh well... I've given up and gone for Pro 1 - should be getting connected next Weds. We will see what we will see..

The testing I did for FKCE I don't think has done much to lift my confidence in Max although will wait to see if anything comes of it.

from the recent KC trading update: The previously announced agreement with BT continues to progress well with the first significant milestones in the transformation of the Kcom network taking place in March. The physical interconnection of two Kcom network nodes with the BT21CN network facilitates the seamless delivery of services across both networks.

Wonder how many people would move onto Mid 3 (50GB usage) if it had unmetered overnight (midnight-8am) downloads... Not sure, as to be honest Max's 6pm - midnight peak suits me better. I don't see how 8am - 6pm can be considered 'peak' for a home broadband service. I am at work for most of those hours.

Quite a few ISPs in BT land, such as ADSL24, also class "peak" as between 8am-midnight. If Mid 3 had unmetered overnight usage it would probably lure more customers over.

Maybe, 50Gb would prolly be enough for me without having to do anything overnight anyway.
