This was a 30 second slot on Look North the day before yesterday. It reported that a company called Media Sat 3 are making a bid to use KC.Com's infrastructure to provide an alternative domestic broadband service, despite the high cost of doing so. So far I've seen nothing else on Look North and been able to find nothing else on search engines or other news media. Does anyone have any more info on this, as we have heard this before only to have our hopes dashed. If it is true it will make a massive difference, especially for those of us who have strikes against our name with Karoo, who would have to up their game in response to long overdue competition aswell.
Any concrete info would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Matt.

where are ofcom in all this?  they are quite happy to screw SKY who provide a fantastic service, albeit an expensive one:
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20100331/tuk-sky-told-to-sell-sport-channels-to-r-dba1618.html

Yet when there is company that provides a service that is an absolute pile of pants, that has a monoply, then it is acceptable.  is it?

Astonishing isn't it, I don't know how many times I've heard Ofcom say 'we don't interfere with pricing' or similar when they have been challenged about KC's pricing in the past...

I'm going to ask them about this.

Website for Media sat 3: http://www.mediasat3.com/web/index.php
You are able to add your name to campaign to have an alternative Telecommunications supplier in Hull.

Mediasat's press releases seem somewhat confused, here they are talking about using WiFi to provide a service: http://www.mediasat3.com/blog/news.php?id=4

Quote
We want to provide a state of the art high speed wireless broadband service to  the city independent of the current KC network. This infrastructure will enable  us to offer services under the general headings of Health, Education, Community  Support, Information and Employment.

Twenty minutes later in another post, they've changed their minds and are now asking for access to provide ADSL2 http://www.mediasat3.com/blog/news.php?id=5

Quote
Today March 24th we have formally asked Kingston Communications for access to allow us to provide telephone and ADSL2+ service in the Hull area.

I'm hoping this isn't yet another alternative broadband provider that mouths off before thinking things through....

Sadly, they look far too small fry to me (no offence to them) but its just like most of the rumours and hope we have had in the past.

Hi'

I'm new to this site but the Media Sat 3 story caught my eye, this is their HQ

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=779+Hessle+Road,+hull&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=19.248626,67.631836&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=779+Hessle+Rd,+Hull,+City+of+Kingston-upon-Hull+HU4+6,+United+Kingdom&ll=53.732086,-0.388792&spn=0.009381,0.033023&z=16&layer=c&cbll=53.73205,-0.388927&panoid=tAfw9eISY8of4NpNHy-6Ig&cbp=12,162.89,,0,4.58
